Leaving Beijing for the first time

Walking through the park
Babe, baby, baby, I’m gonna leave you.
I said baby, you know I’m gonna leave you.
Leave you when the summertime,
Leave you when the summer comes a-rollin’
Leave you when the summer comes along.

Baby, baby, I don’t wanna leave you,
I ain’t jokin’ woman, I’ve got to ramble.
Oh, yeah, baby, baby, I’m leaving,
I’ve really got to ramble.
I can hear it callin’ me the way it used to do,
I can hear it callin’ me back home!

Babe... I’m gonna leave you
Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you
Oh I can hear it callin’ me
I said don’t you hear it callin’ me the way it used to do?

I know I’m never never never gonna leave your babe
But I got to go away from this place,
I've got to quit you, yeah
Baby, ooh don't you hear it callin’ me?
Woman, woman, I know, I know
It feels good to have you back again
And I know that one day baby, it’s really gonna grow, yes it is.
We gonna go walkin’ through the park every day.
Come what may, every day

It was really, really good.
You made me happy every single day.
But now... I’ve got to go away

Baby, baby, baby, baby
That's when it’s callin’ me
I said that's when it’s callin’ me back home...

End of the Night

“Take the highway to the end of the night
end of the night, end of the night”

I’ve been roaming all night long – from one bar to the other, looking for old memories and new hopes. Through clouds of smoke and alcoholic dreams, the smell of sweat and that of dust, I’ve walked and run, dazed by glowing lights and dark sleeping streets.

It’s at the end of the night that, finally, I choose to meet you, climbing the stairs to the rooftop where you sit on a sofa, the music still playing dim as the last few customers leave the place. I sit in front of you, a drink and a sigarette in my hands, and as the breeze cools my skin, I enjoy your sight. Your eyes and your smile make me feel so quiet, happy – like there was no tomorrow to think about, like the past had never been severed from tonight.

This is the end of the night, and I am happy to share it with you.

Fake Plastic Trees

Chinese Plastic Trees

Her green plastic wateringcan
For her fake chinese rubberplant
In fake plastic earth

That she bought from a rubberman
In a town full of rubberplants
To get rid of itself

It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out

She lives with a broken man
A cracked polysterene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins

and It wears him out
It wears him out
It wears him out
It wears him out

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love

But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run

And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out It wears…

If I could be what you wanted
If I could be what you wanted
All the time
All the time...

Voglio una pelle splendida

Stringimi o madre ho molto peccato
ma la vita è un suicidio l'amore un rogo
e voglio un pensiero superficiale
che renda la pelle splendida

Senza un finale che faccia male
coi cuori sporchi e le mani lavate
a salvarmi vieni a salvarmi salvami
bacia il colpevole se dice la verità

Passo le notti nero cristallo
a sceglier le carte che giocherei
A maledire certe domande
che forse era meglio non farsi mai

E voglio un pensiero superficiale
che renda la pelle splendida
a salvarmi vieni a salvarmi salvami
bacia il colpevole se dice la verità

Voglio un pensiero superficiale
che renda la pelle splendida
a salvarmi vieni a salvarmi salvami
bacia il colpevole se dice la verità
