Leaving Beijing for the first time

Walking through the park
Babe, baby, baby, I’m gonna leave you.
I said baby, you know I’m gonna leave you.
Leave you when the summertime,
Leave you when the summer comes a-rollin’
Leave you when the summer comes along.

Baby, baby, I don’t wanna leave you,
I ain’t jokin’ woman, I’ve got to ramble.
Oh, yeah, baby, baby, I’m leaving,
I’ve really got to ramble.
I can hear it callin’ me the way it used to do,
I can hear it callin’ me back home!

Babe... I’m gonna leave you
Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you
Oh I can hear it callin’ me
I said don’t you hear it callin’ me the way it used to do?

I know I’m never never never gonna leave your babe
But I got to go away from this place,
I've got to quit you, yeah
Baby, ooh don't you hear it callin’ me?
Woman, woman, I know, I know
It feels good to have you back again
And I know that one day baby, it’s really gonna grow, yes it is.
We gonna go walkin’ through the park every day.
Come what may, every day

It was really, really good.
You made me happy every single day.
But now... I’ve got to go away

Baby, baby, baby, baby
That's when it’s callin’ me
I said that's when it’s callin’ me back home...

End of the Night

“Take the highway to the end of the night
end of the night, end of the night”

I’ve been roaming all night long – from one bar to the other, looking for old memories and new hopes. Through clouds of smoke and alcoholic dreams, the smell of sweat and that of dust, I’ve walked and run, dazed by glowing lights and dark sleeping streets.

It’s at the end of the night that, finally, I choose to meet you, climbing the stairs to the rooftop where you sit on a sofa, the music still playing dim as the last few customers leave the place. I sit in front of you, a drink and a sigarette in my hands, and as the breeze cools my skin, I enjoy your sight. Your eyes and your smile make me feel so quiet, happy – like there was no tomorrow to think about, like the past had never been severed from tonight.

This is the end of the night, and I am happy to share it with you.

Fake Plastic Trees

Chinese Plastic Trees

Her green plastic wateringcan
For her fake chinese rubberplant
In fake plastic earth

That she bought from a rubberman
In a town full of rubberplants
To get rid of itself

It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out

She lives with a broken man
A cracked polysterene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins

and It wears him out
It wears him out
It wears him out
It wears him out

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love

But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run

And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out It wears…

If I could be what you wanted
If I could be what you wanted
All the time
All the time...

Voglio una pelle splendida

Stringimi o madre ho molto peccato

a salvarmi vieni a salvarmi salvami
bacia il colpevole se dice la verità

Passo le notti nero cristallo
a sceglier le carte che giocherei
A maledire certe domande
che forse era meglio non farsi mai

E voglio un pensiero superficiale
che renda la pelle splendida
a salvarmi vieni a salvarmi salvami
bacia il colpevole se dice la verità

Voglio un pensiero superficiale
che renda la pelle splendida
a salvarmi vieni a salvarmi salvami
bacia il colpevole se dice la verità

Il Quinto Veda

Dakini danzante

Should I stay or should I go?

Yesterday I stumbled on an old song which seems to describe perfectly what happened to me in the last month... it's funny, now that everything seems so far to me, as if it happened in another life...

Darling you got to let me know

Should I stay or should I go?

If you say that you are mine

I'll be here 'til the end of time

So you got to let me know

Should I stay or should I go?

It's always tease tease tease

You're happy when I'm on my knees

One day is fine, the next is black

So if you want me off your back

Well come on and let me know

Should I Stay or should I go?

Should I stay or should I go now?

Should I stay or should I go now?

If I go there will be trouble

An' if I stay it will be double

So come on and let me know

This indecision's bugging me

Esta indecision me molesta

If you don't want me, set me free
Si no me quieres, librame

Exactly who'm I'm supposed to be
Digame quien tengo ser

Don't you know which clothes even fit me?
 Sabes que ropas me queda?

Come on and let me know
Me tienes que decir

Should I cool it or should I blow?
 Me debo ir o quedarme?

Should I stay or should I go now?"

Should I stay or should I go now?"

If I go there will be trouble
Si me voy va a haber peligro

And if I stay it will be double
Si me quedo va a ser doble

So you gotta let me know
Me tienes que decir

Should I cool it or should i blow

should i stay or should i go now

if i go there will be trouble

and if i stay there will be double

so you gotta let me know

should i stay or should i go?

Wingless Bugs

It always astonishes me how the minds of most people are filled up with banality.

They revel in daily habits, proudly and without hesitation. They are like small ants, walking endlessly the dirty ground, looking for crumbs of bread and rubbish to bring back to their home, carrying weight many times heavier than themselves, delving their tunnels underground or building short towers of sand and earth.

I look at them with pity. Has an ant ever looked up to see the sun? I wonder if they even know about the sky. When they spot something large, they just flee in fear of it. Their little world, so small and so frail, ready to crumble under the footstep of anyone, hardly looks worthy of anything, from my looking spot.

They have no fantasy. They never risk, they never walk far from their safe den, they never dream or if they do, they deny their visions as worthless illusions. They look at their world and smile, and think they are happy. What do they know about rivers and oceans, about clouds and stars?

Thus their life is spent, in the continuous repetition of days, without any meaning or end but just being alive.

I look at them unfolding my wings, and ask myself why I always fly alone. They have long lost their wings. They thought them useless.
