Welcome Back

Just as I’ve been surprised by my friends’ welcome in Milan, even more I am startled by what is happening in Shanghai, my personal hell on earth. Most of the people I know still remember me, and after a brief or long chat about what’s been going on in those long four months I’ve spent in Italy and they spent here. And all of them, as our meeting was to end, flashed me with a spontaneous greeting:

“Welcome back”

As I relax in my new, gorgeous apartment, my den in this endless chaotic metropolitan jungle, I like Shanghai more and more. To live in the city downtown, a nice house all for me, with nobody to share and compromise with, stripped of all negative relations I’ve been bound to last year, an interesting job, a decent wage, and many friends. I feel good.

And so, let me surprise you in turn, by saying “welcome back” to myself. After long suffering of the soul, maybe I purged myself and my life of negative energy, and with renewed enthusiasm and energy, I start my new life in the Great Whore, Shanghai. Just as I always have felt uncomfortable with whores, until I came to know some of them, all the same, I’m starting to get along with this city. Constructive attitude may be the key to it all. I passed my test, and now I’m happy.

Welcome back to me. A new life is just about to begin.
